Taking a trip of the magnitude requires a change in attitude. I guess bloggin will be the thing while we are here so I can keep track of what we do. It will also give me a chance to keep track of the pictures that we take.
Day One: We left our home at 6AM on Monday, March 29, 2010. Our flight was to leave about 8:30AM from the Salt Lake airport. I was worried about going through security with all of Matt's diabetes stuff. It wasn't nearlyl as bad as I thought it would be. When we got the to the gate we were surprised to meet Clay Watson. (Roseanne Wilson's husband). He was on his way to Libera for the Church to help with the wheel chair project. We had a nice visit. He was on the same plane and just a row behind us.
We got into New York and had a hike to the new gate but made it in pleanty of time. Funny thing...there were birds flying around inside the terminal. We boarded the plane and then were on our way. It is a long, long flight to Istanbul. Sleeping was difficult but I did manage to read all of the the Fable Haven #5. It was great.
We got to Instubul at 10:30AM on Tuesday, March 30. We had to go and buy a visa stamp and then go to the customs line. Poeple here are interesting. Hundreds of people were waiting in line and these ladies cut through the rope blockade and just went to the front of the line. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. But they drive the same way.
S and Jo picked us up at the airport in S's armored work car. We were bullet proof all the way to their house.
