For J.'s birthday S. rented the consulate boat for a four hour cruise up the Bosphorus and through the Golden Horn. It was amazing to see some of the things we have seen from the water. The weather was sunny but cold with the wind off the water. We went on the bow to get warm until the swells got so big that we thought we were going to be washed overboard. K.'s favorite part of the day were the dolphins swimming side by side. She was thrilled. She wants to swim with them for her birthday.
The gentlemen in the top picture are the captain and his crew. They are hired full time for the consulate to pilot the boat. It is used about nine months of the year to give "guests" a view of the city. We had to chuckle because on a brass plaque there are the rules of the boat. #9says, "Guest must SING the log". We were trying to decide what we should sing. S. figured it out and just wrote his name.
