K.'s class did their science fair today. Each of the 5 groups had to do a presentation on renewable energy sources. K's group did geothermal energy. There are 15 children in her class. Her teacher is from Australia. She is really bubbly and fun. She gave each of us an elaboratly decorated Easter egg and a Grecian honey dessert. It was very good. Another class was listening to the presentations.
Today at the school was World Lunch Day. Each of the kids had to draw a marble out of hat. Each color represented a group of people in the world. According the the color they drew is what they got to eat for lunch. 10% were people considered royals (we would be royals). They had a full lunch with dessert and soda. 70% were 2nd world and they got beans and rice. 20% were the world's poor and they just got rice and water. We had prepared J. for the possibility that he might get the poor lunch and he would have to not have a fit. (He doesn't like rice.) Of course, he got the poor lunch, but he he said he didn't cry. K. had the 2nd world lunch. I thought it was a very great way to teach children how thankful they should be for the circumstance they live in.
