Friday evening we were invited to dinner at Jo's neighbor's home which is just across the hall. Her husband works at the consulate and they have lived all over the world. They adopted a little girl in Thailand and she is eight now.
The people in the picure are Jim, Kate, (they work at the consulate as well, Susan, Winn, Jo, S.
Dinner was all Turkish food prepared by Susan's maid, Bebe. It was delicious. We had KusKus salad, eggplant in a red sauce, stuffed peppers, stuffed chicken (stuffed with spinach and something else), a fried thing like a fritata with carrots, zuccini and other vegetables, and a spinach salad. The dessert was very good but very different. It had chick peas and all sorts of nuts. It's a delicacy served at New Years. The nicest thing was that the children ate in the kitchen with the maid and we didn't see them all night. The maid served dinner one thing at a time and we just visited. I think I could get used to maids.
Susan is a delightful lady. She loves Jo's children and is so kind and thoughtful toward them. She has a box that she lets the kids choose from with gifts when they come. She let A. choose something because she is all pottie trained. It was very hard for A. to choose but she finally chose a pink crown. (Surprise it was PINK!)
