To run any appliance or machine from the States you have to have a converter box that changes the voltage from 110 to 220. JoAnne has a couple of these. One on her kitchen counter, one next to the TV and DVD player and one now in our bedroom for Blaine's breathing machine. I nearly burned up her mixer by pluggin it directly into the 220. Scary.
